Customer Testimonial: Burton Family, Cleve, SA
“It’s pretty mind-boggling how quick it is. The fast unloading means we don’t have to speed across the paddocks. It’s a big jump in efficiency and productivity.”
The Burton family, large-scale grain growers near Cleve on South Australia’s Eyre Peninsula, have significantly boosted their harvest logistics and efficiency with the addition of an Elmer’s 36T Haulmaster chaser bin.
Jason and Julie Burton, alongside their sons Hank and Jed and with support from Jason’s father Ian, crop approximately 11,000 hectares of wheat, canola, lentils, barley, and lupins across dune swale soils ranging from loam to sand-over-clay. With two John Deere X9 headers and a 150T motherbin in the mix, efficiency during harvest is critical.
After previously operating with only one 24T single-axle chaser bin, the family decided to upgrade through their local dealer, Ramsey Bros, and selected the 36T tandem axle Elmer’s Haulmaster for its advanced features, including:
Full joystick control with Haulmaster Pro system
Four-way proportional pivoting auger spout for precise unloading
Five-point load cells and Haulmaster Connect tablet for real-time weight tracking
Powermaster direct drive gearbox with no belts or chains
Up to 18T/min unloading speed
2.5m² ground contact and four-wheel steering for flotation and manoeuvrability

Enterprise:
11,000ha continuous cropping – wheat, canola, lentils, barley, lupins
Two JD X9 headers, 150T motherbin, three road trains, and growing equipment fleet
I liked the joystick control – it’s easy to teach people and gets rid of the hydraulic button. You can put someone on it and away they go.” “The pivoting auger is excellent for filling the motherbin, great reach and easy to direct.

The Burtons have also used the load cell system to track weights for both in-paddock coordination and off-farm lupin and sheep feed sales, improving accuracy and reducing reliance on manual checks.
Trucks come in, fill up and go. The front trailer is generally filled from the motherbin and the chaser fills the back trailer.

Backed by strong support from both Ramsey Bros and Waringa Distribution, the family had access to a demo 41T model and are now even considering a future upgrade to a 55T Haulmaster.
Their investment in Elmer’s equipment also took Jason and Julie on a tour of the company’s production facilities in Canada, a trip that highlighted the brand’s commitment to innovation and created some unforgettable memories.
