Recent News: One-Pass Soil Structuring Machine

“With its ability to deep rip, disc, and pack in a single pass, the Gregoire Besson Discordon One-Pass Finisher has streamlined our soil preparation process and improved efficiency.”

The Gregoire Besson ‘Discordon One-Pass Finisher’ has quickly gained attention among Australian growers for its innovative design and ability to perform multiple soil preparation tasks in a single pass.

A Game-Changer in Soil Preparation

Traditionally, farmers relied on separate machines for deep ripping, discing, and reconsolidation. With the Discordon, these steps are combined, eliminating the need for multiple passes and reducing soil compaction.

Mike Christey, WA Product Support Manager at Waringa Distribution, highlighted that discing often followed deep ripping, but with the Discordon, this extra step is no longer necessary. Geoff Anderson, Business Development Manager at Wagga Wagga, added that cotton growers, who previously used deep rippers and speed tillers, are now able to achieve the same results in one efficient pass.

The ability to adjust the tine depth while in operation means we never have to take the machine out of the ground.

Maximizing Efficiency Across Different Farming Applications

With the ability to rip down to 440mm, the Discordon is ideal for incorporating lime and breaking hard pans. The tine setup allows customization with straight points or wings, depending on soil structure.

Growers appreciate the three-in-one functionality—discing, ripping, and packing—eliminating the need for multiple machines. The packer leaves a finely prepared seedbed, making it ideal for broadacre cropping, cotton, corn, and pasture production.

The Discordon has provided us with a versatile, efficient tool that can handle different soil types and tasks with ease.

Proven Success in the Field

Demonstrations across Australia have already led to strong early sales. In Western Australia, successful trials in Bindi Bindi and Albany, in collaboration with McIntosh & Son, have driven adoption by growers in Geraldton, the South Coast, and the Lakes region. Additional demonstrations will take place in Esperance and other key locations.

In eastern Australia, a recent demonstration in Wagga Wagga drew strong interest, with further trials planned for Moree in Northern NSW and Victoria.
