Customer Testimonial: Bungulla Farming, WA

“It is much quicker and easier because there are no bottlenecks anywhere in the chain. With a bin of this size, 50t only looks like a drop in the bottom of it.”

Brad Jones from Bungulla Farming has taken delivery of Elmer’s 225-tonne HIVE Motherbin—transforming how their grain is stored, managed and transported during harvest.

Located in Tammin, WA, Bungulla Farming is operated by Brad and Kate Jones along with their four children Zoe, Alex, Sam and Nina. The family enterprise grows wheat, barley, canola and lupins across their broadacre cropping operation, with grain marketed into both domestic and export container markets. Their 10,000t on-farm storage helps them manage logistics, and this year they’ve added serious horsepower to their harvest strategy with the introduction of the HIVE.

The 225t HIVE Motherbin has more than doubled the Jones family’s in-field grain storage, allowing multiple chaser bins to feed into it while multiple trucks feed out—removing bottlenecks and boosting overall harvest efficiency. “We loaded two road trains with 136t in 15 minutes, from tarps off to tarps on and out the gate,” Brad said.

This harvest, we’ve had one truck servicing our on-farm silos and two heading to Perth twice a day. Last year we were only doing one trip, plus dealing with bulkheads and tarps. That’s all behind us now.

Working closely with Waringa Distribution, the Jones family helped bring the HIVE to Australia for the 2024 harvest. Their HIVE is fitted with two tank compartments, weigh scales, electronic tarps, HM Connect and Pro data systems, easy-access cleanout gates, and powerful 55cm discharge augers with semi-automated spout controls.

At the click of a button, the spout moves laterally and vertically—then a double click folds it away. It’s accurate, fast, and easy to operate.

Together with two Elmer’s Haulmaster chaser bins (36T and 41T), the Jones family have a seamless harvest chain from header to truck. Thanks to the HM Connect system, every load is tracked and data is accessible for quick decision making.

“Everything from the headers to the HIVE is measured, recorded and easy to communicate. We know what’s in the paddock, what’s in the Motherbin, and what’s been sent to the silos.”

Brad also praised the service provided by the Waringa Distribution team, saying their support and backup has been “exceptional”.

Customer Testimonial: Caleb Austin, Moree, NSW

“We were cutting the canola high and it was great. We also had a lot of lodged barley that we were picking off the ground and we just ran it in hinge flex mode (with rigid cutterbar). It followed the ground better and there was less dirt getting in the front than our other fronts.”
